Do not put the Lord your God to the test" (Luke 4:12) is an important lesson of the Scriptures. But there is nothing wrong asking God to build our confidence. After all, as Jesus said, "how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!" (Matthew 7:11).
